The Middle Ages Feudal System
The Feudal System was originally created as a form of defense. This system is based upon mutual obligations. Starting in the 500's the church started to become very corrupt, powerful, and worldly. During this time sometimes the Church would be the head of the government instead of a King.
How it works:
The King owned the land. He would 'give' some to the Nobles in exchange for their loyalty. The Nobles would then give some to the knights/vassels if they took an oath to serve them. And the land just gets rented out until everyone has a job.
People who:
Fought- Nobles and Knights
Worked- Pesants and serfs (they got protection in exchange for working the land)
